Spanish Wells to the Abaco

Sunday May 3rd we left Spanish Wells at first light and followed a fishing boat out the North Channel passing through part of the Devils Backbone.   This is a reef infested   passage famous for boats running aground.  We made it  out in to the open Atlantic with waves forecasted out to the east to be  4 ft on the beam and wind out of the  SW.  Early on in our 41 mile run to Schooner Bay the swells were about 2-3 ft and at 9 seconds, they latter built  to 3 ft with a few at 4 and 5.. About 11 am we hit a squal with some gusts to 30 and a down pour that last about 30 Minutes.  A great free boat washing.  We got through the cut into Scooner Bay and explored this community in the making.  This is beautiful development which could be special but it was dead with only  a few people around.

The next morning we decided to head to Hope Town and the March Harbour area.  We had 2-3 foot Seas on the bow at 9 seconds and a fairly comfortable ride.  We only had 18 miles of open ocean before tucking behind the reef and behind the many Islands of the Abaco.  It was overcast so the beautiful water didn't show well in pictures.  We are currently at the Hope town Marina and Inn.  This is the nicest Marina we have been in yet, it even has a swim up bar in the pool.  We hope to stay here a month!  More  pictures to come
